Congrats Jerry,
I really like the 40's. They are the sportscar(bus) of the bunch, and I'm seriously envious over your fuel mileage. Here's a link to a troubleshooting manual for your transmission: PrevostGurus->ForumTools->Library->Other->allison_transmission_md3060_trouble-shooting.pdf (The manual is for the full range of Allison transmissions). Section 6 describes how to read stored codes. Simply depress the up and down arrows simultaneously and the display will show the first code, scroll through the codes by pressing the Mode button. The transmission not going into drive could be low oil, a faulty selector pad, or a faulty speed sensor.
