Slide Top Cleaning
We spend most of the Summer on our lot in the pine trees of Montana with shorter trips from there to Canada and other places in the Northwest. The squirrels enjoy bombarding our coach each morning with pine cones as they harvest them for their winter storage. The pine sap drools all over the bus. The green pine cones are sticky and stick to the bus. It’s a minor inconvenience to have to clean the bus frequently as we enjoy spending the Summer here.

To help prevent the slide seal from being damaged, it’s important to make sure that the top of the slide is free of debris and the surface is clean and void of pine sap before retracting the slide. One way to minimize the debris that falls on the slide top is to extend the awning out over the slide. However, I’ve found it more difficult to clean the pine sap and resin off the awning fabric than off the metal surface of the slide top. Therefore, I leave the awnings retracted.

The pic below is an extreme example but if you park your coach in the woods or any place where debris can fall onto your awnings or slide top, check and clean them before retracting.
