This is pretty cool: http://www.spinnerii.com/. It's basically an oil filter. It flows around 7gph. In a given day of driving you've centrifuged all your oil. Spinning at 6000 rpm, powered by oil pressure, and generating 2000g's of force, microscopic particles, soot, dirt, and whatnot are slung to the sides and captured. It'd be interesting to see one of these in actions. We've all pretty much accepted the fact that diesel engine oil is black after the first 50 miles. Does it have to be?
